Chandigarh: The Punjab Government transferred Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh IPS, IGP Crime, Head Intelligence (OCCU) and member SIT, as per the orders of ECI. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh has been posted as IGP Counter-Intelligence at Amritsar against a vacant post.
Many prominent social and political personalities & organizations criticized the transfer because it will hit the probe into sensitive sacrilege related cases in Punjab. Some even criticized the ECI for the action against Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh and described the action of ECI as political motivated. While the Shiromani Akali Dal leaders welcomed the transfer. These Akali leaders have been very uncomfortable with Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh since the establishment of SIT.
